The purpose of this page is to give you easy access to translations of Islam's canon of scripture, tradition & jurisprudence and other documents derived from and describing them.

The Original Library & New Expanded Library are on this page. The books in the Original Library are stored on site; downloading them carries a risk of exceeding bandwidth limits.  They are monolithic, lacking tables of contents and indexes. They can be searched monolithically. They are not interactive.

The books in the New Expanded Library are stored at Box.net. Downloading them will not crash this site.  The Noble Qur'an, hadith collections & Tafsir have table of contents, index, search & favorites tabs. They are interactive, if residing in a single folder; a search of any of them will return results from all of them. They must be searched chapter by chapter; they are not monolithic. Reliance of the Traveller (Shari'ah) lacks a functioning index, and is not interactive.

The Qur'an tells us what Moe said while speaking for Allah. It is the foundation of Shari'ah; Allah's word is law. Hilali & Khan used Abdullah Yusuf Ali's translation and three tafsirs as guidelines. They included condensed exegeses in parentheses.

While the Qur'an tells us what Allah commanded and Muhammad preached, the Hadith tell us what Muhammad said and did while not quoting Allah directly. By showing them side by side, we can demonstrate the congruent pattern formed by Islamic doctrine & practice. The Muslim Student Association at U.S.C. provides four major Hadith collections featuring named anchors; the same text is contained in these Windows help files. Note that their numbering system may not match that of the printed books. Unlike the online Hadith collections,(and New Expanded Library) these downloads are monolithic so you can search an entire collection to find what you seek. (There may be multiple matches due to redundancy.)

If you  use an operating system other than Windows, you will need a help viewer utility to display these books.

Each verse at USC-MSA is a named anchor so that we can link to them to allow our readers to verify our quotes and explore the what little context exists. The URLGenerator utility, which you can download from the New Expanded Library, will make linking to quotes easier.

Expanded Library:

EgregiousAyat & Ibn Kathir's Tafsir added; Noble Qur'an & Hadith collections re-compiled with existing content.  Off site storage should prevent crashing this site.
Most of these e-books are Zipped, they will be slightly larger when extracted.  Egregious Ayat & Ibn Kathir are new to the collection; the others have the same content as the other versions on Crusader's Armory, with these differences:
  1. Each  chm file has fully functional table of contents, index, search & favorites tabs.  Look up verses by Surah:Ayeh [9:29].
  2. The original file structure has been preserved; search tabs display a list of chapters containing matching text. Monolithic search is not possible.  Use the Location & Title buttons to sort search results.
  3. Each e-book was compiled to merge with the others at run time. If they reside in the same folder, searching any of them will return results from all of them.
  4. These e-books are stored at Box.net; downloading them should not crash Crusader's Armory.
The two utilities are stand alone executables compiled with Visual Basic 6 and packaged with the Windows Installer Package for easy installation. Each has a help file which shows you how to use it.
